A friend recently requested I do some research for her on members of her family about whom she knew very little. I was pleased to help her as I love to get stuck in to a task that will bring pleasure to someone whom I know is need of cheering up.
Imagine my delight at the underlying humour of this delightful newspaper article I found whilst searching her family story…..
Mr. W. Ricketts, of Crossville, is over 80, but they don’t come any tougher.
Last week he was fastening the tailboard of a truck loaded with rams when one of the animals charged and butted him on the forehead. Our Cleve correspondent reports that apart from a rather sore head, Mr. Ricketts is unaffected and still attends to his routine work.
The condition of the ram is not known.

Postscript: Mr Ricketts continued farming for a few more years – living to 86 years.
